Description: If you are a therapist needing to provide advice on different aspects of toilet training to families, this online workshop is for you. If you are a parent seeking practical advice on this important milestone, this workshop is for you. These 3 sessions will discuss the developmental considerations of toilet training as well as practical guidelines to the actual training built from a developmental perspective. From building the initiative to “go potty”, discussing the fear of sitting on the toilet to the act of self-cleaning will be discussed. Considerations of different training techniques will be shared as well as include difficult situations such as enuresis (night training / bed wetting).

Outline / Agenda:

Session 1 – April 28, 2021: Developmental considerations of toilet training

Session 2 – May 5, 2021: Practical guidelines for achieving toilet training

Session 3 – May 12, 2021: When toilet training goes “wrong”, discussing problem areas

Learning Objectives:

  • Outline at least 5 different developmental considerations in the act of toilet training
  • Review different supplemental aides such as gates, seats, potty bells etc.
  • Consider at least 10 guidelines to ease the process of toilet training
  • Review at least 3 different thought leaders and their ideas on toilet training
  • List 3 considerations with regards to enuresis at night and ideas to support night time training

Presenter: Maude Le Roux, OTR/L

Bio: Maude is an international trainer in a variety of different courses. She is an accomplished occupational therapist with great affinity for learning and understanding the human brain. She was born and raised in South Africa and graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town in 1984. Maude and Charl Le Roux moved to the USA in 1993 and opened A Total Approach in September 2001. Maude is SIPT certified and specializes in Sensory Integration services as it applies to functional activities of daily living, including improving the ability of children / students of all ages to partake in his/her learning environment.

Maude designs her own live courses with regards to occupational functioning of students across different ages and stages of development in a variety of categories. She works with a team of occupational therapists and speech language pathologists in her practice. She is well known for her experience and work with children who are diagnosed with ADHD/Executive Functioning, Autism Spectrum, Attachment, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Dyslexia/ Learning Disabilities. Maude is a mentor to many therapists, including OT and DIR professionals internationally. She opened The Maude Le Roux Academy online in January 2019. She has presented at conferences in a variety of settings across the US as well as internationally. Maude co-authored the book, The Listening Journey, with Francoise Nicoloff, and her second book, Our Greatest Allies, is available on

If the course participant cancels within 30 days prior to the course starting date, the reimbursement would be 75% and within 2 weeks of the course; reimbursement would be calculated at 50%.
