Description
Many students struggle with sensory adaptive responses to the environment and there many ideas “floating” on the internet and different courses. These 4 sessions will take the course participant deeper and consider the multitude of aspects involved in the 7 different sensory systems. The mechanisms and functions of each sensory system will be discussed and multiple ideas will be provided to enhance school performance for the individual student. Educators will feel equipped, therapists will have multiple ideas to try, and students will be able to access learning to a higher ability. The concept of a “sensory diet” will be discussed in a way to decrease the student’s need to be away from his/her desk. Insight will also be provided as to writing the needs for specially designed instruction on the Individualized Educational Plans (IEP / IFSP) Ideas across different environments as well as a full continuum of age and grade levels will be shared.
