Description

This course will describe the different nuances and overlap between ADHD, ADD, and Executive Functioning. Current thoughts and theorists, as well as research, will be covered as well. Important aspects of learning such as working memory and the building blocks that support building working memory in the brain will be included. The importance of considering aspects of processing speed and working memory in the diagnosis of ADHD and ADD also overlaps into what is needed to build an IQ score on the current intelligence tests we use today. Coping strategies of daydreaming and visualization will be considered while we also look at central nervous system reasoning for being distracted. This course will focus on the developmental hierarchy of building attention in the brain and is a “one-of-a-kind” course designed to empower professionals and parents to positively impact on this diagnosis in creative ways.
